Harriet Kelsall is a Non Executive Director at British Allied Trades Federation. She possess expertise in jewelry design, jewelry, diamonds, fashion, retail and 34 more skills. In 2017 Harriet invited me to join the Ethics Committee, which became the Better Business Committee, of the National Association of Jewellers when she served as vice-chair. I have also since arranged for Harriet to speak to the Guernsey business community when in 2020 she visited me on the island and we saw the opportunity for her to promote her book. Her lateral thinking and creativity have enormous value, as does her empathy and candour which she dishes out in equal measure. Harriet is able to lead and collaborate. This is not always common. She is decisive but inclusive, aware of everyone in the room and considers the full picture. She won't be quiet if she has a concern, which is essential in the board room. Harriet is also an educator and a doer. She has built her highly successful business (and unusually successful given how challenging it is to scale a jewellery business) and has led with sustainability; she was one of the pioneer ethical jewellers in the noughties. She has been able to do this partly because of her ability to stimulate, inspire and educate her team, and then empower them to be brilliant. She has now turned all this knowledge into a book, and has much to offer as a keynote speaker for national and international events.
