I facilitated Art Therapy 1-1 with adults with suffering from an eating disorder and jointly facilitated a Therapeutic Art Recovery Group for adults suffering from eating disorders as part of clinical placement for my Art Therapy MA course.

I supported and encouraged individuals with learning disabilities and physical disabilities to develop their skills and confidence in the hope that they may live a more independent and fulfilled life within their homes and their local communities in Cheshire. Each individual I supported was encouraged to achieve their own personal goals. One of my main roles as a support worker was assisting the individuals I support to develop the skills they need to improve or keep their independence such as managing their money, budgeting, meal planning, domestic tasks, cooking, applying for jobs/volunteering and organising leisure activities/days out.

This role inspired me to pursue a career path of supporting others. It offered me the opportunity to gain experience working alongside a number of individuals with mental health disorders, learning disabilities and physical disabilities in East Renfrewshire to live a more independent and fulfilled life. The individuals I worked with were supported with various day to day as well and longer term tasks which varied between individuals depending on their support requirements. Short term tasks for some individuals included encouraging them to cook and clean with as little assistance as possible in their own homes, supporting individuals to live a healthy lifestyle and providing them with emotional support if required. Longer term tasks included supporting individuals to get involved in local clubs and activities in their community. Each individual supported had a unique individual personal support plan to follow which would be updated frequently to suit their needs.

Listened, empathised and provided assistance to students and their parents regarding student loans. This role offered me the opportunity to develop my communication skills with others and to improve my problem solving and my I.T. skills.

Working as a Sales Assistant in Monsoon Accessorize involved listening and communicating with my managers and fellow employees, providing friendly customer service, sorting and marking down sale stock and setting up displays for summer and winter sales, operating the tills, store security, stock replenishment and keeping the store tidy and presentable.
