Main challenge was the combination of architects' manual drawings of the site features with excavation data in PostgreSQL database using the GRASS GIS system to produce georeferenced plans of the excavation is different scales.

The visit was a part of the "The European Doctorate in the Social History of Europe and the Mediterranean 'Building on the Past'"-programme, part of the "Marie Curie Fellowships for Early Stage Training Sixth Framework Programme". I worked on my PhD-thesis under the supervision of Dr. Willem M. Jongman.

The first season of the excavations I was a student and worked as an excavator at a trench. The second season, I became the surveyor's assistant, assisting in field measurements using total station and measurement processing using AutoCAD. The third and fourth season I worked as surveyor, responsible for the digital measurements on the site, post-processing the data with AutoCAD, and training students in total station use.
