• Currently heading the Chassis Integration- M&HCV Frame team of 9 along with my colleague, responsible for the design and development of Medium and Heavy Commercial Truck's Frame Architecture and Packaging of vehicle aggregates. • Delivered products on several major projects for some of India's largest logistic companies inline with their own market requirements. • Delivered the turnaround project of BS4 to BS6 conversion of India's emission norms, wherein the whole frame architecture has been revamped to support a modular platform. • Advanced light-weighting techniques were used to reduce the Truck frames weight by 15% while being on par with stiffness requirements, saw a part reduction of 38% while achieving a modular platform. • Developed productivity improvement tools for creation of Frame Drawings and automated the process of Frame BOM Quality check cascading to achievement of World Class Quality-Level 2 • Driving the innovation projects of the Chassis Integration Team with at the least 5 patents delivered every year and emerged winners in intra and inter-company competitions • We constantly work with our own CAE and the production team to analyse and optimize the frames while ensuring manufacturing feasibility and efficacy. Was heading the sub-system of Powertrain and the Fabrication - Functional Entity. Responsibilities undertaken and initiations done :+ Selection of transmission system and the layout based on the requirements of other sub systems and the vehicular level targets+ Spool drive using CVT was implemented for the first time in our 10 years experience of Off-road Racing+ Calculation of gear ratios to provide necessary torque and gradeability meeting the speed regulations of the SAE Baja Rules+ An automated Excel sheet was created to optimize Gear design by taking into consideration necessary parameters varying the Gear size, teeth and ratio+ Designing of the powertrain layout and packaging of the same in the rollcage of the buggy+ Design and Analysis of the gears and shafts of the custom gearbox made in house+ Design and Analysis of Gearbox casing using Ansys Workbench and Fluent to check for oil flow, thermal and pressure.+ Design of cooling system for the Belt Tapers on CVT which causes loss in power due to slipping of a heated belt.+ Simulation of Gears shafts and gearbox running condition in creo and analysis of the same providing maximum axle torque+ Selection of Driveshafts to accommodate the full suspension wheel travel to allow proper jounce and droop without hindrance of run-out.+ Testing of the vehicle in specifically designed testing tracks to check fatigue and endurance life of each component after virtual testing and validating the feeback from track testing

Project majorly focused on fabricating an indigenous rate measuring device to give a direct rate profile of a fuel injector using Hall effect sensors aimed at analyzing and tuning the injection lag during fuel injection. Any lag in the system was promptly detected and corrections were made incorporating a Bosch ECU using Kistler KiBox and user made programs on LabView FPGA to control the ECU and to model the engine running conditions. + Injection lag during fuel injection due to hydraulic losses was identified and work on developing a measuring device to map the ECU accordingly was done.+ A rig was setup to model the running engine condition and to simulate the fuel injection.+ A measuring device was designed and fabricated in house to record the rate of injection through recording velocity of the piston powered by the injection of the fuel into the measuring device with the help of Hall Effect sensors.+ MATLAB was used to find the difference in timing between ECU start of the injection and the actual injection at the nozzle end and graphs were plotted recording the same and the pressure build up at the common rail.+ The ECU is remapped accordingly and fuel injection simulated at various pressures using LABView FPGA to dictate various user commands.+ The experiment was analysed with different recordings and graphs to arrive at the injection lag that needs to be corrected at the ECU end.

The project was aimed at finding optimum zones for automation in the process line of two different production plants. One being the fabrication of wheels of heavy duty mining vehicles and the other, fabrication and assembly line of air-suspension systems for Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors Buses. These plants were undertaking various processes such as different types of industrial welding, assemblies, press forming, furnace heating and other pick and place activities at different stages of the line.+ Detailed study on the processes involved in production of wheels and the assembly of Air-suspension systems+ Study of tack time of each processes and the human effort involved in it+ Study of various automation systems to be incorporated in the production process+ Study of hazard identification and safety measure in pick and place operations+Formulating plans to automate certain stages of the line to efficiently increase the output and reduce tack time while taking into consideration hazard mitigation for the human involved+Submission of detailed report on the possible positions of automation to be incorporated in the production process to facilitate production and to ease the pick and place operations without human involvement

Attended training at the shop floor and formulated a report on the procedural process at the assembly line of the production of Heavy commercial trucks/Low floor buses and Engine shop on production of Neptune and H-series 6-cylinder engines and 4-cylinder engines.+ Recorded the methodology followed in the chassis assembly line of 31T, 37T Trucks and low floor bus+ The front axle and rear axle assembly lines were studied to understand all components used in detail+ Engine shop was observed to record all information regarding assembly of 4-Cylinder engines including assembly procedures and tack times.+ A detailed report on assembly from Frame architecture to Chassis assembly line was submitted for evaluation to the Research center of Ashok Leyland.
