Responsibilities undertaken and initiations done :+ Selection of transmission system and the layout based on the requirements of other sub systems and the vehicular level targets+ Spool drive using CVT was implemented for the first time in our 10 years experience of Off-road Racing+ Calculation of gear ratios to provide necessary torque and gradeability meeting the speed regulations of the SAE Baja Rules+ An automated Excel sheet was created to optimize Gear design by taking into consideration necessary parameters varying the Gear size, teeth and ratio+ Designing of the powertrain layout and packaging of the same in the rollcage of the buggy+ Design and Analysis of the gears and shafts of the custom gearbox made in house+ Design and Analysis of Gearbox casing using Ansys Workbench and Fluent to check for oil flow, thermal and pressure.+ Design of cooling system for the Belt Tapers on CVT which causes loss in power due to slipping of a heated belt.+ Simulation of Gears shafts and gearbox running condition in creo and analysis of the same providing maximum axle torque+ Selection of Driveshafts to accommodate the full suspension wheel travel to allow proper jounce and droop without hindrance of run-out.+ Testing of the vehicle in specifically designed testing tracks to check fatigue and endurance life of each component after virtual testing and validating the feeback from track testing

Project majorly focused on fabricating an indigenous rate measuring device to give a direct rate profile of a fuel injector using Hall effect sensors aimed at analyzing and tuning the injection lag during fuel injection. Any lag in the system was promptly detected and corrections were made incorporating a Bosch ECU using Kistler KiBox and user made programs on LabView FPGA to control the ECU and to model the engine running conditions. + Injection lag during fuel injection due to hydraulic losses was identified and work on developing a measuring device to map the ECU accordingly was done.+ A rig was setup to model the running engine condition and to simulate the fuel injection.+ A measuring device was designed and fabricated in house to record the rate of injection through recording velocity of the piston powered by the injection of the fuel into the measuring device with the help of Hall Effect sensors.+ MATLAB was used to find the difference in timing between ECU start of the injection and the actual injection at the nozzle end and graphs were plotted recording the same and the pressure build up at the common rail.+ The ECU is remapped accordingly and fuel injection simulated at various pressures using LABView FPGA to dictate various user commands.+ The experiment was analysed with different recordings and graphs to arrive at the injection lag that needs to be corrected at the ECU end.
