I was a Software Development Engineer I in Amazon's Advertising organization. My team built and maintained the data pipelines responsible for analyzing revenue from advertising on the Amazon.com desktop and mobile homepages. Relevant skills: Java, AWS, Python, Apache Spark, ScalaI designed, developed, tested, and maintained data pipelines that deliver advertising revenue data of Amazon.com to a data lake for business analysis. One such pipeline parses terabytes of log files for the Amazon ad rendering pipeline with batch processing through Apache Spark on EMR. It structures raw log data and writes to a Glue table backed by S3 storage, enabling insight on ad render rate on Amazon web pages worldwide.I designed and implemented serverless AWS Lambda and EC2 based microservices with event-driven and scheduled architecture. One such microservice performs customer-driven deletion on our datasets by receiving SQS notifications of requests to delete, passing these notifications to our downstream deletion process, and responding with completion status to the upstream requester through REST API.Some additional responsibilities I had were monitoring and maintaining these workflows, along with the rest of our pipelines, during oncall rotations to ensure operational excellence. I hosted and engaged in collaborative processes such as design and code reviews in order to deliver at the highest bar. I also mentored a summer intern and led our team's sprint planning.

Amazon Search Query Understanding:I redesigned and implemented an updated offline build for retrieving and storing user search data on Amazon marketplaces. Amazon searches are annotated with references to product pages and other relevant information. A mass collection of stored queries and their annotations is necessary for downstream services to evaluate customer interest. My productionized workflow handles millions of queries daily across multiple regions, using technologies such as Apache Spark and Java, and AWS services such as SQS, S3, and EMR.

I worked with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and the Toyota Collaborative Safety Research Center on a study analyzing risky driving behaviors and behavioral tendencies. I was responsible for drafting questionnaire items and scales from literature databases to compose and finalize a survey. This survey will measure the aforementioned risky driving and behavioral fields and will be administered by telephone to our sample of adult drivers throughout Southeast Michigan. I also inspected participant vehicles and collected data for AAA's LongROAD study, which measures the driving tendencies of aging drivers over a multitude of years.
