CurrentProvide visionary leadership to the development of the African American Cultural Arts District and day-to-day operational oversight of the Historic DeLUXE Theater. Serve as facilitator of the community’s arts and cultural plan. Act as an ambassador for the community and a liaison between the artists, developers, residents, and stakeholders. People centered. Humanity driven. Community focused. Key Accomplishments:• Managed community film project “Memory Builds the Monument” premiered at SXSW and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.• Establish youth arts program offering musical theater and violin training in partnership with Houston Symphony.• Awarded over 1 million in grants from City of Houston, National Endowment for the Arts, Mid America Arts Alliance, BIPOC Arts Network and Fund, Houston Endowment, Brown Endowment, and LISC.• Increased DeLUXE Theater annual revenue by 65% • Launched affordable housing project for artists housing 10 artists and 3 artist in residence. • Created a temporary museum honoring the musical legacy of the community.• Restored annual community festival post COVID.• Established signature programming for community: Black Theater Week, The DeLUXE Show annual art exhibition, DeLUXE K!ds youth arts program.
