Sabre Coach at Wellesley College Division 3 NCAA Fencing Program

My ultimate responsibility is to ensure a superior fencing event by addressing concerns of coaches and athletes, demonstrating empathy, and resolving problems on the spot.I have worked as a referee throughout my collegiate and professional career. I bring experience, efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism to every match I officiate.

Coordinated with facilities, organizational board of directors, event staff, volunteers, and rental companies to facilitate top of the line local events. These events reached a peak of over 500 individual entries and led to the fundraising of 18,000 dollars across multiple 501(c)(3) organizations including the University of Florida Fencing Club and the Gateway Division of USA Fencing.

Our team is focused on winning a National Championship from the moment practice begins to the end of the season. It is my responsibility to facilitate our victory from behind the scenes by scheduling travel arrangements, ordering nutritious food and top of the line gear, compiling competition statistics and data, organizing video playback for analysis, inputting compliance information into team organizational applications (TeamWorks), and managing various operational budgets.During the off-season I work mainly to increase our discretionary fund by connecting with alumni and other potential donors. I also help recognize institutional needs regarding athletic talent and manage spreadsheets to visualize the distribution of athletic aid. I help to facilitate communications between potential student-athletes, parents, their coaches, and our team coaches. I also designed a large group presentation, with our assistant coach, for our introductory recruitment meetings over zoom.I have also led the reconstruction project, during the Covid-19 pandemic, of the fencing gym making sure each deadline were met and high quality product was produced. This included 8,800 sqft of carpentry, over 2000 ft of electrical cable, and the installation of premium scoring equipment.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic my coworkers in the Athletic Department and I were reassigned to the Department of Student Life. Here I check quarantined students in and out of temporary housing; fielding questions about testing protocol from students and anxious parents, managing deliveries, and inputting and registering students into the Qualtrix and Student Res systems.

I assisted with the day-to-day operations of the fencing team ensuring championship caliber athletic experience by stocking team kitchen, editing and compiling video for coaches, and setting up 24 fencing piste for events and practice. I was required to fix and maintain our athlete's equipment on a daily basis for practice and during competitions. During the NCAA Finals I was needed to repair a broken weapon and was able to diagnose the problem, fix, and return it to the fencer before they returned to the strip.By my second year I was trusted with ordering 12 piece equipment kits for incoming freshmen from several different vendors, collaborating with the team nutritionist and local catering companies to fuel the team each day, and creating a mailing list for our donors.
