An Exercise Physiologist and Sports Coach with an MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology from St Mary's University. Current elite cyclist and professional cycling coach, working for Holohan Coaching as Head of Sport Science. As an individual, I am inquisitive and someone who questions the why's and how's in everything I face in my life. This keeps me striving for better - not by achieving excellence (this is relative), but by consistent development and improvement. I'm extremely passionate about elite sport, and providing elite level coaching and support to a range of athletes from youth to senior elite level. I’m experienced in working across a range of sports, most notably elite cycling, and high-performance rowing, but I am interested in all sports and outdoor activities - learning to climb, ski-tour and anything that gets me outside. I'm a strong believer in empowering the athlete to succeed through education. Through all my experiences as a high performing athlete, elite coach and human across the last decade, I continue to develop a clear and precise philosophy to achieve this.I'm very aware about the negative impact of sport and the sporting industry on the environment. I campaign for environmental conservation, sustainable practises in sport, and for positive change across many environmental issues. I recently launched a Clean Water Campaign to raise awareness for the problems the UK is currently facing with it's water quality - which resulted in me swimming the length of Windermere!!I work tirelessly for my athletes, constantly developing my physiological knowledge and learning through new experiences. I am always open to new challenges and new experiences, this is how we learn."Whoever has a why to live for, can bear almost any how" Viktor E. Frankle,1905-97.This has stuck with me for many years. I believe if you create meaning in any daily task or profession you're not working, but instead learning, developing and ultimately enjoying the whole process. If you don't have purpose you won't find true enjoyment.
