Since 2015 Tim has been consulting on electric vehicle infrastructure to the Queensland Government, and has planned and delivered several innovative projects of national significance, including:- The Queensland Electric Vehicle Superhighway, the world’s longest EV highway in a single state. Recognised internationally for its forward-thinking, cost effective planning and delivery, Phase 1 of the highway was completed in early 2018, with future phases currently in development. - Assisting the preparation of ‘The Future is Electric’, Queensland’s Electric Vehicle Strategy, a nation-leading document detailing how the state can capture the benefits of a transition to electric vehicles.- Authoring the ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Practice Note’, Australia’s first guide to EV charging.

The Professional Project is the culminating experience of the Master of Energy Studies program; whereby students design and undertake self-directed project work that consolidates and applies the concepts, principles and methodologies learned to date and applies them to complex global energy challenges. Tim is pursuing his interest in energy solutions for the electric vehicle industry by investigating energy management options for Tesla as they rollout their fast-charging network in Australia. Working in collaboration with Tesla’s Supercharger program manager, Tim will evaluate the solar and energy storage potential, demand side management opportunities, grid connection issues, and electricity pricing structures in order to provide strategic input for the proposed Supercharger network.

Within Sedgman’s project development team, Tim led project feasibility studies, design development, tender submissions, cost estimates and project execution programmes for various projects in the resources industry. Tim managed multi-disciplinary teams and worked directly with the developer and clients (eg BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto) on large greenfield and brownfield expansion coal projects.

EDF Energy are one of the world’s largest energy providers and are developing Britain’s first new nuclear power station in over 20 years, with two projects estimated at £GBP 14 billion each. As Senior Civil Engineer in the new build division of EDF, Tim managed the engineering and construction feasibility and front end stages for the critical site specific infrastructure. Representing the developer during the early stages of the approval process for such a large and unique project enabled Tim to gain enviable experience. As a senior member and one of the longest serving on the project, Tim also provided coaching and support to younger members of the team.
