As a staff attorney for the Kansas Department of Transportation I must be flexible and adapt to any assignment given to me, but my focus areas are property damage recovery, property damage claims against the agency, and overseeing KDOT’s responses to Kansas Open Record Requests. In addition, I have served as a temporary contracts attorney wherein I receive contract requests from other departments and draft and/or review agreements before routing them for signatures. I also serve as one of KDOT’s representatives to a multistate anti-human trafficking working group.I graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2021, where I earned a Social Justice Certificate, and graduated with Pro Bono Distinction for providing more than 50 hours of Pro Bono time in my community. I also served as a member of the OUTLaws and Allies LGBTQ law group. In addition, I was the Chief Judge of the Trial Court for Student Senate, and I was a student member of the School of Law’s Academic Affairs Committee. Outside of school, but still inside of academics I still look at any subject manner in a holistic manner. I have found that this allows for a better understanding of issues. Being able to examine an issue in a critical, intersectional way yields more accurate results, and allows you to figure out solutions others may not be able to see. Outside of academics I busy myself with getting involved with local politics and issues. I served as a community member on my hometown’s Community Police Oversight Work Group. I do weekly board games with friends, and play a couple of games of Dungeons and Dragons to wind down on the weekends.
