About Harrison Carter

Cheers Y'all, I want to start off by taking a moment to introduce myself. My name is Harrison Carter and my pronouns are he/him/his. I currently as the Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student-Athlete Excellence at New York University and a Graduate Assistant at Columbia University School of Professional Studies in the Office of Student Life.A little about me, I am a second-year graduate student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) program at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development on track to graduate in May of 2024. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Leadership Studies from Auburn University.  Following graduation, I had the chance to return to my hometown of Montgomery, AL, to work as an 8th-grade social studies teacher. I then moved to Baltimore, MD, to continue working as a 9th-12th social studies teacher, also serving as the department lead. A student's right to an equitable education is a crucial conversation and I will gladly meet you at the table. My long-term goal is to work in public policy with a focus on secondary education and higher education or work in Nonprofit Management. I want to work towards an equitable education for all students regardless background and identities. Everyone deserves an education specifically and intelligently designed to their individual strengths. We as a society must work hard to ensure that our students have a bright future and ample opportunity to advance their lives.
