I lead and advise technology-based startups, speak on Innovation and Ecosystems in Silicon Valley (USA) and China, and I'm a Visiting Professor at Xi'an Eurasia University.Primarily, I'm the founder and CEO of TRC Robotics (aka. Telepresence Robotics Corporation). At TRC, we are creating the CPR-Platform™ for Commercial Personal Robots™ which opens the commercial robot solution opportunity to Software Developers & OEM licensees. The CPR-Platform changes the economics of the commercial-business-consumer segment of the robot industry as it allows software developers to create robot-based solutions via CPR-Apps™ that will run on any OEM's CPR licensed CPR without needing to build the robot. The CPR-Platform is similar to Google's Android which made a marketplace for smart devices. TRC's slogan is "We build the Robot. You build the App.™" In addition, I am Executive Editor of Video Technology News and I take on Advisor roles for several startups at a time.My career includes working for AT&T Labs (the R&D business unit of telecom giant AT&T), Sony Electronics, and Apple, along with several early-stage startups. As an executive in corporate development or business development, I generate new business opportunities and increase corporate value through ecosystems and partners. For example, at AT&T Labs I built a 3rd party developer program for the Common Open IP Platform (COIPP, codenamed GeoPlex), which was the basis of the 2000 joint venture with BT (British Telecom) called Concert. I also represented AT&T on the founding Board of Directors of the ASP Industry Consortium (ASPIC) and created an ad hoc strategy group to coordinate ASP (application service provider) strategic offerings across AT&T's BU silos. My unique financial model on the potential effect of the industry standard PARLAY Initiative led to AT&T’s multimillion-dollar support and investment in the consortium.
