Profile bio

About Harrison Strom

As a kid growing up in North Florida, I spent a lot of time outdoors in the woods and on, near, or in the Gulf of Mexico. As such, I have been imbued with a passion for the natural environment, particularly the salt water. Today, that passion drives me to give back in ways that mutually benefit society and the planet. Over a 22+ year career in the United States Marine Corps, I had incredible experiences and ample opportunities that helped shape me into who I am today. My favorite aspect of military service has always been the common thread of mission accomplishment that can take a kid like me and put me into a group of individuals with extremely diverse backgrounds and upbringing and forge us into a team that can accomplish anything together. A strong sense of duty and responsibility has always been at the forefront of what makes me tick, and is a contributing factor to my successful career in the Marines as an infantryman and Marine Raider. My personal “WHY” statement is:I BRING FOCUSED ENERGY SO THE EARTH CAN THRIVE.What this means at face value is that I believe the earth will thrive when humans and the environment exist symbiotically and the earth/human interaction is balanced. It ALSO means that the earth will thrive when we are encouraged, inspired, and empowered to do our best work; when we’re all happily contributing with purpose. I am passionate about conserving and protecting our natural environment particularly the ocean and coast. I believe it is our duty and responsibility to preserve and wisely use the resources given to us to benefit future generations. I am most effective when working in a role that couples my experiences building and leading diverse, cross functional teams in complex, dynamic environments with my talents of bringing focused energy into strategic thinking, planning, and operational applications. I am a lifelong learner and growth seeker who enjoys applying critical thinking to solve complex problems. My leadership philosophy is:1. Build a diverse team of talented people,2. Create an environment of trust where they are inspired to do their best work free from the fear of making mistakes, 3. Empower them with appropriate authority and tools, 4. Sit back and watch me magic happen while injecting energy into friction to break through obstacles for the team. My Gallup Clifton Strengths are: INPUT | INTELLECTION | FUTURISTIC | ACHIEVER | ANALYTICAL.
