I completed an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science as well as conducting a placement in exercise and cardiovascular physiology. Part of the placement included screening a group of athletes before they undertook a guided climb in the Himalayas for charity. The screening involved a steady state exercise protocol on 3 occasions at 2000, 3000 and 4000m respectively in a hyperbaric chamber. I have recently started an MPhil in Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Physiology researching the potential cardiac manifestations in the athlete’s heart due to Covid-19. Work will involve analysing echo scans of professional footballers pre and post Covid and longitudinally after Covid-19 infection.
