Responsibilities:During my time at Colas I was responsible for maintaining and updating the Environmental Management System to ensure the company maintained certification to the ISO14001 standard across all sites and activities. This ranged from fixed permitted locations (quarries and manufacturing facilities) to smaller scale civil engineering and re-surfacing contracts. I managed the internal audit program for the company and regularly produced reports for business managers and directors on compliance with legislation and compliance with the requirements of the management system. I provided advice and guidance to departments on legislation and environmental best practice and also wrote and delivered a number of training courses and webinars to improve understanding of environmental management within the business. I collated, monitored and maintained internal KPIs around energy, emissions and waste and developed and maintained a reporting template allowing the business to more effectively retrieve energy and waste data. Finally, I managed the Colas Ltd CEMARs certification, successfully evidencing an accurate methodology of calculating carbon emissions.

I joined Southbank Centre on the understanding that it would be an internal environmental management based role. However, the main responsibility was management and coordination of the summer festival volunteering program. In the role I successfully recruited volunteers, organised welcome events and created volunteer timetables. I also had responsibility for volunteer project management budget forecasting. This gave me experience in the people side of sustainability.In terms of environmental sustainability, I retained budgetary responsibility for small scale infrastructure upgrades and was responsible for the Arts Council England energy data submission to Julie's Bicycle. I also chaired the internal Sustainability Working Group, successfully introduced a clothes recycling scheme through TRAID and gained experience of business case development, producing a business case for the introduction of ISO14001 at the organization.

EcoCampus is an environmental management system, award scheme and training suite designed by and for the Higher and Further Education sectors. The scheme is a phased approach to implementing a management scheme equivalent to ISO14001 and is also used as a vehicle to gain full ISO14001 accreditation.As part of a varied role, I was responsible for recruiting new institutions onto the scheme. Key clients recruited included University of Southampton, University of Surrey, Glasgow School of Art and Huddersfield College. In total I successfully brought approximately £360,000 of new business to the project. Other responsibilities included social media management, writing and circulating press releases, delivering elements of training workshops, desktop reviews and on site audits. I also produced a number of tutorial videos for scheme participants and provided consultancy style support for those implementing the scheme. Finally, I provided a general customer service function to support clients on the scheme and developed a customer management database in Microsoft Access.

In a newly created role I was responsible for the outbound sales at the company in addition to some inbound sales and customer services. Key tasks involved prospect sourcing, direct mail campaigns, cold and warm calling, business to business sales presentations and representing the company at promotional and networking events.

During my time at university I worked as a Event Coordinator on a zero hours contract at Team Spirit Event Management ltd. The flexibility of the role allowed me to combine it with my full time studies whilst at university. Key tasks included conference and event set up, delegate management and motivation, activity demonstration and driving company vehicles.
