About Harry Gregory
My first effort at community organizing was a fundraiser for a Habitat For Humanity home. It was a lesson in planning, teamwork, outreach, follow up, and shared ownership. Partnerships developed and grew out of the process. The ribbon cutting ceremony gave me goosebumps and inspired this poem:You lift me up as I lift you,Enriching lives by what we do. Families smiling as we build,And we are all just passing through. So take my hand as I take yours,To open hearts as we open doors. For love is waiting there inside,And we are all just passing through. As a student intern at the Permanent Mission of Jamaica to the UN, I reported on the passage of the Sustainable Development Goals “to transform our world” and preparations for the Paris Climate Conference. I helped my supervisor write a speech that the Jamaican Ambassador delivered to representatives of all member nations. When I recall hearing my words in that international setting I feel those goosebumps again.Delving into the climate crisis I was struck by the disparity in its impact. I spoke out at hearings of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. I helped create the Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency in collaboration with community organizations and the Denver City Council President. Half of its $40M annual budget assists low-income households and people with chronic health conditions. More goosebumps.Moments like these motivate me to continue striving to transform our world.
Listed skills include Environmental Policy, Community Organizing, Sustainability, Community Outreach, and 46 others.

Over 35 years ago, social ecologist Murray Bookchin theorized that as capitalism hit the planet's ecological limits, struggling elites would turn toward fascism to maintain social control amidst catastrophic social upheaval and ecological collapse. His stark warning resonates even more deeply today: "If we do not do the impossible, we shall be faced with the unthinkable." ~ Re:Imagining Change, Patrick Reinsborough and Doyle Canning

Decade Summary
As Conservation Chair for the South Carolina Chapter of Sierra Club I organized a group that participated in Bill McKibben's protests in DC to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline. I marshalled at the Forward On Climate Rally in February 2013. I enrolled at Savannah State University, an HBCU in Savannah, Georgia in August of 2013. That month I won an essay contest on the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. While at SSU I studied journalism, political science, and non-profit management, marched in the People's Climate March in NYC in 2014, attended Selma 50 with the Georgia NAACP, and served a four-month internship at the Permanent Mission of Jamaica to the UN prior to the Paris Climate Conference in 2015. I joined The Climate Mobilization in 2016 and was part of the team preparing for the Climate Summit as outlined in our amendment to the DNC Platform. I worked with TCM and XR to get Denver and Colorado to declare a climate emergency and participated in Boulder's Climate Mobilization Action Plan. I used The Climate Ribbon and Climate Clock to help people feel the urgency for climate activism.
