Harry Hopes has held various managerial positions in the engineering, transportation, safety, environmental and hazardous material departments throughout his 40+ year railroad career. In addition, he was a commissioned law enforcement officer. Most of his career was devoted to occupations within the Risk Management Department. His responsibilities included ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines; responding to and managing incidents involving the release or potential release of hazardous materials and environmental contaminates; designing and providing outreach training to communities and customers to enhance emergency preparedness and incident prevention; identifying problems, diagnose causes, determine and implement corrective action plans; and coordinate activities of managers to ensure standard implementation throughout the corporation.
