A 50/50 position, working within operations and on the clinical support desk for SWAST.Within operations, I work on frontline ambulances and rapid response vehicles providing urgent and emergency care in Cornwall.Within CSD, I clinically triage patients to ensure a safe and appropriate disposition for patients who call 999. This role also includes providing clinical support to non-registered colleagues and promoting patient safety within the organisation.

As part of the Widening Participation and Outreach team, during my studies at the University of Surrey I supported children from underrepresented backgrounds to encourage educational engagement and enhance aspirations. This included supporting NHS workshops; encouraging and assisting aspiring paramedics; and teaching about a vast range of subjects, such as first aid and careers sessions.

Working as a supernumerary Student Paramedic with South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) throughout my studies with the University of Surrey. This included working on ambulances and solo response vehicles (SRVs) with paramedic mentors. External placements included working within Royal Surrey County Hospital across various departments:Operating Theatres - becoming proficient in airway management and maintenance techniques. This included insertion of supraglottic airways and endotracheal intubation, utilising manual and video laryngoscopy whilst under the supervision of a Consultant Anaesthetist.Delivery Suite - working with the midwivery team to support a safe birthing environment and learning from members of the obstetric team.A&E - working within Adults ED and Paediatric ED, learning about common presentations and management of conditions, included utilising skills such as intravenous cannulation and patient triage.
