I worked part-time at a local gaming cafe in Leicester. During my time there I went through training on operating various different pieces of kitchen equipment. After a few short weeks of training, it was appropriate to give me full responsibility for the kitchen during my shifts. This included handling all of the food orders that came through and making sure tables received all of their order at the same time. But I was also tasked with keeping track of the kitchen's stock of ingredients and putting through orders of replacement stock whenever it was needed, ensuring food safety standards we met throughout the shift, and cleaning the entire kitchen at the beginning and end of my shifts and ensuring all equipment was both properly set up and shut down each time I worked. This allowed me to improve upon my time management skills by becoming more and more efficient at the opening and closing of the kitchen. I also learned important lessons on how to keep calm under pressure and ensuring quality work is always important no matter the desire to get something done quickly. In addition to managing the kitchen and all of its orders, I was also expected to deliver people's food to their tables and ensure everything is to their liking providing me with vital experience in customer service..
