I am a passionate and experienced professional with a strong track record in marine environmental protection, international relations, and social impact. I was the Trade / Political Officer at the Canadian High Commission for Sri Lanka and Maldives, where I work to promote and strengthen Canada's bilateral relationship with Sri Lanka and Maldives. I also support the High Commission in representing Canada's interests and values in the region.As the Ch Secretary at the Marine Environment Protection Authority, I worked with the senior management and the board of directors to ensure the effective implementation of the policies and regulations related to marine environmental protection and conservation in Sri Lanka. I had also liaise with various stakeholders, such as government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations, to facilitate collaboration and coordination on marine environmental issues.I have completed a BSc in Strategic Studies and International Relations at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, where I learned about the theories and practices of global politics, security, and diplomacy. I am particularly interested in international law, human rights, and conflict resolution and how they apply to the regional and global challenges we face today.One of my passions is to help the local community and the environment of Northern Sri Lanka, devastated by the 30-year civil war. I co-founded Jaffna Backpackers, a community of volunteers who promote eco-tourism and community empowerment by supporting local and international backpackers who visit the region. We organize various activities and projects, such as beach clean-ups, cultural exchanges, and livelihood training, to create a positive impact and a sustainable future for the locals.I have also gained valuable experience and skills in marketing, sales, and digital media through my previous and current roles as a marketing consultant, sales and marketing specialist, and digital marketing specialist for different companies and organizations. I have successfully helped them to increase their brand awareness, customer engagement, and revenue growth by developing and implementing effective marketing strategies and campaigns. I have also leveraged my strong communication and presentation skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and investors.
