Led the software design of a data broadcast receiver for a Linux based TV set top box.Singlehandedly wrote a program to update remote systems using very little bandwidth.

I provided on-site support for the Intel Paragon massively parallel supercomputers. These systems cost millions of dollars and the customers expected commensurate support. I helped with troubleshooting both software and hardware problems, and helped them obtain optimal performance of their computationally intensive applications.I ported many programs to the Paragon, and conducted frequent trainings in parallel programming techniques.

Multiflow was a startup company which introduced the world's first Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) mini-supercomputer, an innovation in parallel computing (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiflow). I helped develop the scientific computing environment to showcase the system's capabilities with numerically intensive programs.I was responsible for the first port and performance tuning of several large commercial applications, and performed extensive debug of largely untested prototype systems. I made frequent technical presentations to customers and sales prospects.

Combustion Engineering sold nuclear reactors for dozens of the largest power generating stations in the United States.I designed software components of the world's first use of a digital computer in a nuclear reactor safety system (the “Core Protection Calculator”).I also designed and wrote software for the world's first “first principles” digital computer-based full-scale nuclear reactor simulator (for Baltimore Gas & Electric).I had extensive experience in adapting computationally intensive mathematical models to real-time, safety-critical environments.
