Expedia – Director of Technology, Financial Systems Platform 2016 - currentApril 2018 to present - I am managing a Financial Systems engineering team focused on AWS initiatives. In 2018 I led the effort to architect, design and build a new infrastructure on AWS to extend our financial systems platform to the cloud. Our objectives have been to improve our scalability, resiliency, availability at a lower cost of infrastructure. We are achieving this.Currently my teams are executing 2 development projects on AWS. One is the creation of a new Billing solution that will interface to the Financial Systems Accounts Receivables module. The second is the creation of a new sub-ledger transaction processing application that will interface to the General Ledger. This will be a very high volume transaction processing application. In 2019 I led an engineering team to migrate the financial systems APIs from on-prem based middleware platform to AWS. The team migrated 66 APIs that interfaced with 29 client systems and processed 500+ million API executions/month. We migrated the APIs to a RESTful Implementation.I led this project from ideation, strategy, architecture, design, development and deployment. The project was completed on schedule (Q1 2019 to Q1 2020) with minimal escalations. It was a 15 person project team. We achieved our objectives as outlined:• Provided Auto-scaling, resiliency and deployment automation.• Enhanced application monitoring that enabled us to reduce application down times.• Improved API security by introducing authentication, enforced IP Whitelisting, Introduced Akamai threat detection and mandatory fortify code scans.• Provided capability through one landing page to explore the APIs and making the APIs discoverable. 2016 October to March 2018 - I managed a team comprising DBAs and System Architects based in two locations in Bellevue, WA and Gurgaon India. I was responsible for the IaaS and PaaS layers of the financial systems platform.

Solution Architect for Back Office Financial Operations and Accounting systems platform.Led an effort on the financial systems platform to architect, design and construct partner onboarding APIs using a MicroService architecture style and deploy our APIs as independent deployable services, delivering a business capability (ie: create supplier & customer, update supplier & customer, create payment & payment methods)Solution architect on a strategic project to automate and enable upstream travel business events to generate and execute appropriate financial operations and accounting events and ensure the completeness, accuracy, timeliness, traceability and auditability of the financial data. Defined architecture for new & custom financial application including integration architecture with Oracle Financials (AP, AR, FAH, Cash & GL). The application is being designed and built on Amazon cloud using Amazon Web Services, utilizing DynamoDB and AuroraDB relational data services with integration with on-prem Oracle ERP financial systems platform.

I performed the following roles in various projects:• Application Roadmap Project co-lead for Accenture Hospitality Services (AHS). Accenture was going to market with a complete back office solution for the hotel industry offering business process, application and infrastructure outsourcing. • Participated as a Solution Architect to propose a back-office Billing, Disbursements and Accounting solution for a large internet company in the Bay Area. • Participated in numerous business development opportunities including proposal development and client presentations for back office system implementations.• Participated in Mattel’s Agile PLM implementation project. Providing thought leadership on improving the scalability of the application through infrastructure enhancements, application component re-design, Oracle database tuning and RAC clustering.

• Incorporated Solution Architecture principles and practices for the financial systems • Led an eight person team to re-architect and scale the Vendor Payments Process including digital and e-books royalty payments, inventory vendors and others.• Recommended implement of Hyperion Close Application Suite and Data Relationship Management (DRM) tool. Recommendation was accepted. This was based on a detailed fit/gap analysis of the requirements for Global Statutory Reporting, Subsidiary Integration and Chart of Accounts maintenance.• Played a lead role in defini.ng the financial systems solution for launching Kindle devices, e-books and Kindle content in Brazil. Provided leadership in defining the SPED reporting architecture and the selection of 3rd party software vendor (Synchro) for Tax reporting to the Brazil government.

Implemented global ERP and retail store inventory management system for Europe, Asia and the Americas regions, across multiple business units and 12,000+ stores. One of the largest and complex Oracle ERP implementations impacting all supply/chain and financial processes. The project team at its peak involved 350+ team members. My roles included:• Defined strategy, plan and deployment approach for global ERP implementation• Defined global architecture for complex Inter-company buy/sell relationships across multiple operating entities. Enabled:– One global standard, removed manual work and reduced accounting errors– The company to maintain significant tax savings for green coffee procurement • Designed a highly scalable solution for Order Fulfillment utilizing Order Management to facilitate the replenishment of 20,000+ stores daily. Enabled Order Management to reserve inventory and pick release 2+ million order lines per day• Designed solution to integrate two large systems at Starbucks Oracle e-Business Suite for all Financials and Supply/Chain processes and JDA for store order and in-store inventory management processes. Enabled automated integration and reduced errors.• Performance testing – led a cross-functional team to define, plan and execute performance testing. Selected and executed performance tests for 19 end-to-end processes. Made recommendations for Application and Database servers in a RAC clustered environment. The post go-live system stability and performance exceeded expectations. • End-to-End Testing – Played a lead role in defining, leading and guiding the end-to-end testing for all inter-company transactions resulting in timely fiscal period close.
