For the Presidential election, with over 90% of its members out of work because of the COVID-19 pandemic, pioneered and was the architect of the largest independent expenditure field and communications effort by any one organization in the country. • 3 million doors were knocked by over 1,700 canvassers in Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Florida.• Over two-thirds of the conversations were with voters of color.• 10 million phone numbers were dialed by UNITE HERE phone bankers.• 462,135 infrequent voters pledged to vote for Biden/Harris via a conversation with a UNITE HERE canvasser.• 120,775 of voters spoken to by a UNITE HERE canvasser had not voted in 2016 in their current state.

Successfully managed the Culinary Union’s 2016 and 2018 campaign cycles- building a political organizing powerhouse recognized as one of the most effective political programs in the country, with the New York Times calling it a “remarkable turnout operation.”Key victories:• Nevada was the only swing state that went blue against Trump in 2016.• Flipped state assembly, state senate, and two US Senate seats from red to blue: Nevada’s first Latina U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in 2016 and defeated an incumbent Republican with the election of U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen in 2018.• Elected Steve Sisolak in 2018, the first Democratic governor in decades.• Elected a majority woman state assembly and state senate in 2018-a first in the country.

Managed several notable and successful IE efforts on behalf of UNITE HERE and its Local affiliates. In 2010, on behalf of South Florida Local 355, directed, in a majority Black city, the election of the first Black Mayor of Miami Gardens, Oliver Gilbert. In 2013, on behalf of Boston Local 26, directed the Local’s participation in the first primary and general election victories of former U.S. Labor Secretary and former Mayor Marty Walsh. In 2014, for San Diego Local 30, managed the campaign in the border town of Imperial Beach to defeat the two-term incumbent Republican mayor with environmental activist Serge Dedina, the only significant Democratic victory in San Diego County in the 2014 cycle. In 2015 managed, for Philadelphia Locals 274 and 634, the first primary victory of Mayor Jim Kenney. In 2017 he successfully directed, for Atlantic City Local 54, the contested re-election of former New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney.Harry has championed the integration of the best practices of political campaigns and workplace organizing in his work. Most notably, these include the Culinary Union’s successful 2015 unionization of the Trump International Hotel, lobbying strategies for passage of the 2017 landmark Nevada Diabetes Drug Transparency legislation, and the 2018 casino hotel contract fights on the Las Vegas Strip.
