About Harry Zhou

I am a materials engineering student at the University of British Columbia, expected to graduate in April 2025. I have been working as an undergraduate research assistant at UBC Engineering and UBC Sauder School of Business since May 2023, acquiring proficiency in 3D Printing, Python, and Computational models. Some of the work that I've done during my time working as an undergraduate research assistant includes developing a Python script to convert g-code into event series to simulation in Abaqus, setting up and learning how to effectively use and troubleshoot 3D prints on the AON3D M2+ 3D printer and developing a computational model used for resource management when using Additive manufacturing techniques for product procurement. My core competencies include scientific experimentation, workflow optimization, and problem-solving.Along with my research experience, I've spent the last two years involved with the Materials Engineering Undergraduate Society, where I've been the Academic Coordinator during my first year and President since then. During my time in the materials Engineering Student Council, I've enjoyed implementing new events such as weekly Snack and Studies, Outdoor Movie Nights and Bunny Therapy to the Materials Engineering undergraduate students. On top of that, I've been able to significantly improve student engagement through the effective usage of communication platforms, such as weekly newsletters, Instagram and Email notifications. I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge to advance the field of materials engineering and contribute to the innovation and sustainability of the industry. I value teamwork, learning, and excellence, and I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team.
