This position involved planning and leading large audit engagements as well as managing large groups of review or compilation engagements. I had a leading role in the training of junior staff members as they progressed both within the firm and in the CPA program. I was also actively involved in all aspects of the engagement, including billing of customers and acting as the primary client contact. During my time at Johnsen Archer, I became effective at managing staff, developing budgets and exceeding all expectations, resulting in my promotion to Supervisor.

This position involved planning, preparing and completing all types of engagements, including compilations, reviews and audits. As I grew within the firm, my focus became review engagements and not-for-profit audit engagements, where I was able to manage junior staff. As part of these engagements, I also prepared the corporate income tax returns, if applicable, and the personal income tax plans for the various corporate shareholders and their families. Each spring, this position also included significant time preparing personal income tax returns for a wide variety of clients. I served as a mentor to junior staff members as they prepared to write the UFE and worked through the CA program. During my time at Manning Elliott, I became proficient at several types of accounting software (e.g. Caseware, Taxprep, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Sage Accounting) and developed many long-lasting professional relationships.

This position involved one-on-one activities with a little brother in need. I established a memorable connection with my little brother by creating fun games to keep our interactions engaging and interesting. This was a truly humbling experience that always leaves me amazed at how much impact a few interactions can have on a young life.

This position involved opening new accounts, providing investment advice and dealing with complaints from members. Account openings are interesting because they involve the process of profiling a member's personal and financial background to get an idea of what products or services would be of most benefit to them. The skill of guiding a conversation to obtain this profile is something that I honed during my time at Coast Capital. The other major skill that I cultivated in this position is time management. With a continuous line of walk-in members, paperwork and following up on prior interactions, this position was a constant juggling act to ensure that every member's needs were met in a timely manner.
