About Alastair (Harry) Hawes
I am a commercially minded Chartered Accountant having worked in a variety of businesses.My current role is that of Operations Director for EY's FS Managed Services 200+ strong team responsible, which I have built from the start, for matters relating to Finance, Risk Management, People Proposition and the day-to-day operational aspects of mobilising and running live engagements. Our Managed Services teams support our Financial Services clients across an increasing number of areas, such as Regulatory Compliance (Anti-Money Laundering, Suitability Review, generic remediation), Reporting Solutions (Finance and Regulatory) and Cyber Security. Prior to joining EY in October 2012 I was with RBS supporting the branch divestment programme, in effect the Financial Controller for the division now known as Williams & Glyn. Initial responsibility was to effect a change programme to segregate the Financial Reporting function prior to engaging with the prospective purchaser to achieve the separation, or disposal, of the division. I have demonstrated my ability to quickly understand a company's structure, as seen during my role working for a Private Equity company, when I was responsible for carrying out the Operational and Financial Due Diligence of an investee company. I had to identify the areas that were to be terminated or needed improvement as well as how best to support the areas that shown a strong, sustainable performance.I have worked in large organisations, such as Vauxhall Motors, where I learnt to work with, and develop strong working relationships, with the multiple stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the business.During my term with Vogue House Furnishers I was appointed Acting MD, whilst carrying out the existing role of Finance and Operations Director. In this combined role I had overall responsibility for all aspects of a multi-site retail business.Specialties: Experienced Finance Director;Commercial Accountant;Acquistions of Businesses;Business Integration;Change Management;Raising Investment Finance;Portfolio Management;Financial and Operational Due Diligence;Cash and Debt Management;Process and Systems Reviews;
