I have been a member of Toastmasters International since 1979. I won the District 71 International Speech Contest in 1981.I came 2nd in the Inter-District Speech Contest at the TMI World Championships in Arizona in August 1981. I served as Distinguished District Governor 1987-88. I achieved DTM Award in 1986. I most recently achieved the Advanced Communicator Gold Award from Toastmasters International. I have actively re-engaged with Toastmasters Clubs in my Division over the past 5 years.

When employed as Director of Waterford Teachers' Centre I organised and administered all National Programmes of Inservice for Teachers in our Area of Waterford and South Tipperary as well as drawing up courses that met the CPD needs of teachers who wished to attend during out of school time. I designed and populated the Centre's website over my 18 years as Director.The current Centre website has links to many websites on my favourite topics of Emotional Intelligence, Multiple Intelligence, Positive Psychology and Classroom Management. I also built a unique Resource Library from scratch that now stocks over €50,000 of books suitable for teachers to use as part of their professional development programme. This is a unique specialist library in the whole of Ireland. The library is online on the Centre's website at www.wtc.ie. I also built up an eclectic mix of all unique original Art collection source mainly from emerging local Artists that is conservatively valued at €60,000. It greatly adds to the ambience to the building making it a most suitable venue for the location of Teachers' CPD activities.

King'S College, Wilkes-Barre Pa 18711 Usa

Have lead a group of Irish Teachers to Wilkes Barre for the past 10 years. This included study at King's College as well as leading trips to Philadelphia,Washington D.C., and New York City. Received an Award from King's College for Leadership for the duration of the first decade of the 21st Century as well as an Award for service to the local community from the Wilkes Barre Chapter of The Friendly Son's of St. Patrick. I successfully lead a group of 23 teachers to Kings College in July 2015 to formally bring this programme which has been running successfully since 1974 to a final close. We had 110 guests at our final Celebration Dinner in King's College on Sunday, July 26th 2015. This programme was brought to a final successful conclusion.

As a trained facilitator of Social Personal and Health Education with Waterford Institute of Technology, I provided classes on a wide range of topics with pupils aged 16-19 years old that helped them improve their emotional intellignece. Co-ordinated a Toastmasters International Youth Leadership and Speechcraft Programme for Transition Year Students from 1994 to 1998
