Manufacturing Engineer
- Supported the implementation of Caterpillar Production Systems (CPS) within the department (usage of tools and techniques including 5S, TPM, PFMEA & CI)- Participated in daily Tool Box meetings and Continuous Improvement dialogues, and supported the implementation of improvements- Participated in 6 Sigma Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIW) and Black/Green Belt projects, contributing process expertise- Collaborated with plant representatives from Caterpillar sites around the world, to ensure successful launch of new model programs into multiple plants - Project management of new equipment and processes to the plant ensuring cost, timing and predicted performance achieved- Developed manufacturing procedures in the form of Standard Work to leverage best practices and drive continuous improvement- Incorporated the key Guiding Principles of CPS to eliminate wastes of excessive motion, transport, inventory, and over producing- Implemented new tooling and procedures to the shopfloor, and provided training required to ensure applications satisfies requirements- Optimised existing assembly jigs & fixtures to improve assembly set-up time & satisfy the operator’s safety requirement- Created a layout with AutoCAD, and investigated alternative layouts to provide new capacity and improve material flow and productivity- Provided high-level formal training to new operators in the specific application, standards, systems, processes and tools- Monitored safety results, participated in safety observations and initiated continuous improvement ideas / actions
