Manage a complex Linux, MacOS, and Microsoft based network/support team consisting; and User/Network Support Students. The team supported a group of over 40 data intensive researchers and administrative personnel of the U. S. Geological Survey. Network consists of over 120 nodes, desktops/laptops, Linux & Windows Servers, Linux HPC, and other support equipment. Planed and implemented VMware and Xen consolidation. Designed NAS/SAN storage with iSCSI environments. Migration from Linux/Samba domain to Dept. of the Interior Microsoft AD environment, Group Policy, user, and resource migration. Point to Point VPN connectivity for distributed users. Provided 24/7 technical support, automated system monitoring, and on-call user assistance. Promoted Open Source Software in K-12 education and was IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt. Presented at national conferences on the benefits and use of Open Source technologies in K-12 education. Created Knoppix4Kids Live Linux CD with educational software. Provided network consulting and integration services for public and charter schools.

Managed migration from Novell Netware 4.11 to 5.1, which included shifting of users, profiles, and data to new servers. Implemented a network-wide managed firewall, combined with new network security policies. Migration to managed HP ProCurve network switches with vlans. Maintained Linux based email and web servers. User support for faculty, staff and students. Supervised team of 10 student employees. Participated in the training of technology-oriented students.
