As part of a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) on my initial year in Australia, working as a carpenter's assistant and general labourer to the managing director of an independent construction company in the process of start-to-finish building of residential and commercial spaces.

Within the space of a year, as part of the waiting team at an upmarket fusion tapas restaurant - 'Origins' at the White Lion, I become trained in food and drinks service, adding to my existing food preparation knowledge and my ability to handle transactions, customers and service on my own initiative and to brief; neatly and effectively in a refined atmosphere. Due to my commitment I was offered the role of supervisor (being the only non-management member of staff at the time to be so), whereby I extended my skills base to: copy and compiling some company documentation cashing up and cash flows for the business, customer and employee satisfaction, including compiling rotas, and even managing whole services.

During a one month internship at the prestigious Bloomsbury Publishing, I worked within the Adults Marketing and Publicity team on both new, and ongoing, projects ensuring that lists of fiction and non-fiction titles were given the optimum level of support and coverage. My duties ranged from creating and editing PR's; completing substantial mailings; compiling upcoming catalogues and generating and creating events materials. My time at Bloomsbury helped me gain a wealth of experience both specific to the Publishing sector and more generally, in a professional environment whereby I was granted considerable responsibility for the tasks at hand.

After passing a an proficiency test and a successful group interview I was hired as a Christmas temp by the prestigious John Lewis partnership to work in the Stock Management department. Working strictly to manager's briefs, but having to utilise my own initiative, I managed to garner a respectable product knowledge of the store, help customers to receive the best service experience possible, and make sure all due diligence measures were enacted in the rotation and supplying of stock.

Having proved myself as a brand manager, content writer and editor at the national online-article based startup company 'StudentSoc'​ I was invited to move forward with the management team's new project: RealTalk Media. Covering a range of content from upcoming musical acts to political debates, with a further section dedicated solely to sports, RealTalk Media publishes a number of podcasts and text-based content, and continues to expand into live events. Working as aremote part of the RealTalk team I have been focusing on releasing written content tied to weekly podcasts such as background summaries of the interviewees and preview articles.

For the last two years, during seasonal periods and summer, I have worked at 'Café Twit', the café joined with the Roald Dahl Museum. Working as part of a team in a intense kitchen and tea room environment I have learnt to prepare food and drinks to order quickly and efficiently. Due to my role I have also become more than competent with handling transactions.

Roles Included:Ticket selling as well as allocating tickets for other representatives, collecting payments and paying wages.Maintaining and expanding upon student clientele for nights such as: 'Yella Bellagan' and 'Gin and Juice'.Distributing posters and flyers through the student population area of Nottingham.Acting as a hospitality representative, receiving acts booked by 'Yella Bellagan'.

In September 2013 I joined the emerging student brand 'StudentSoc', an online journalistic publication aimed initially at the vast student population at The University of Nottingham. Since then we have expanded to three other universities including Exeter and Warwick. Due to my role as Brand Manager I am responsible, individually and as part of a management team, for the continued presence and marketing of the 'StudentSoc' brand both offline and online, largely through the use of social media. I am also an active member myself, contributing a steady output of articles of a professional standard to brief and of my own impetus.

During the summer of 2014 I was selected, as part of a team of 12, to work on the development and marketing of a new social media app called 'ActivityPal'. During a period of 10 weeks, working while still at university and at the Mayfair offices, I was frequently employed in user acquisition through social media. Furthermore, I was often part of actual street teams devising and fulfilling methods of guerrilla advertising during large events such as the Tour De France. After concluding an extended period at 'ActivityPal' than the contract I was initially offered, I learned impeccable time management skills - having to commute, as well as coming to a professional understanding of contacting and pitching to other niche companies, including attending some events as a representative of the brand.

At the end of my second year at The University of Nottingham I underwent an interview process and was finally selected as part of a small team to be on the first ever student editorial team for the English Newsletter, which is given out to all undergraduates in the School of English. Throughout the process of compiling this newsletter I worked closely with both my peers and members of the English faculty as the university. I devised the formats and questions for both of my interview style pieces, sourced my own images and proofed and editing all my own work to a stringent and professional brief.

While studying at The University of Nottingham I have held a number of prestigious positions in Committees associated with the Student's Union. These positions include being Social Secretary for my Halls of Residence in my first year, whereby I was responsible as part of a small team in organising events for up to 600 people, the handling of large amounts of money and the production of distribution of promotional materials. I also continued these responsibilities with a similar role in my second year as Social Secretary for the English Society.I was also a representative for the Student's Union as part of WeekOne - the welcoming week for all new freshers at the university, which entailed me offering confidential and pastoral care as well as being part of a large team overseeing a variety of nights out for hundreds of students.

After multiple interviews, both group and individual, I was offered the role of Customer Service Assistant on the shop floor of Chesham's Waitrose branch. During a period of two years working here, while studying towards my A Levels I was fully trained and promoted to Counters Assistant. Due to my display of exceptional work ethic I was trained on all four counters (Meat, Fish, Delicatessen and Bakery) and was often solely in charge of more than one for whole shifts. My time with the John Lewis Partnership taught me an invaluable set of skills concerning interpersonal relationships within a workplace, both concerning my colleagues and customers, excellent time management and practical assets such as food-handling and preparation knowledge within a retail environment.
