In addition to the responsibilities of a vetting officer, my duties also included the following: ● Managing and processing costing summaries for SIA Licences, Disclosure Scotland / Disclosure and Barring checks and Counter Terrorism checks paid for by the company. I was responsible for handling specific queries relating to cost discrepancies, refunds and over charges. ● Sending email updates and reports to the business detailing vetting updates, SIA licence information pertaining to expired or granted licenses and new processes.● Informing managers when employees need to be removed from shift due to issues with their SIA licence that legally prevents them from working in a security capacity. ● Responsible for specific contact and client vetting - HSBC, YBS, and Irwin Mitchell. ● Taking part with mandatory audits from the SIA and BSI who scrutinise and report on process relating to SIA licence management and BS7858 vetting. ● Creation a process work-flows, guidance documents and additional templates to increase awareness, train staff in specific processes and ensuring collection of necessary data. ● Closely liaising with the resourcing department to support the hire to retire process. ● Line management of 3 – 7 vetting officers; duties including conducting appraisals, performance reviews, return to work meetings, managing annual leave, interviews and related resourcing activities, team meetings and managing case-loads within the team to ensure satisfactory performance. I would also provide on the job support for all vetting officers and internal stakeholders such as locally based managers, admin staff and various support service functions such as HR, Payroll and finance.● Project work such as the centralisation of aviation vetting from local operational departments.

● 5 year BPSS vetting and screening in line with the British Standard 7858 (Security screening of individuals employed in a security environment.) ● Verification of right to work documentation to ensure compliance with the Home Office. ● Conducting credit checks on new staff; we would check for CCJs, insolvency, bankruptcy and undeclared aliases. ● Processing SIA applications for new licences, renewals and additional licences. ● Issuing SIA Licence Dispensation Notices (LDNS) for eligible security staff.● Monitoring the validity and expiration of SIA licences for all security staff (approx 4500 employees) via the time-gate system and the online SIA company portal. I held company sponsor status with the SIA in order to perform these duties. ● 5 year vetting and screening for air-side pass applications on behalf of staff based at Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. Vetting had to comply with the 'EU Regulation Direction 185/2010'​ as well as requirements set out by the local ID Centres. To complete these duties, I was an approved authorised signatory. ● Applying for Counter Terrorism Checks on behalf of staff working within aircraft at UK airports. I held sponsor status with the 'Defence Business Services National Security Vetting'​ – par of the MOD.● Submitting criminality checks to 'Disclosure Scotland'​ for basic checks and the 'Disclosure and Barring Service' for enhanced checks. I held counter signatory status with both organisations. ● Providing advice and guidance to managers, applicants, staff and other stakeholders to ensure efficiency within the vetting process to support delivery against various contracts and client expectations. ● Using systems and software packages in order to complete my duties including Microsoft Office, PASS Vetting system, Recruit-active resourcing portal and the SAP HR package.

This involved liaising with the local bus companies to purchase tickets in bulk. ● Delivering 1-1 and group sessions designed to help customers overcome barriers towards job searching, applying for jobs and ultimately entering the world of work. ● Managing administrative tasks to effectively run the office on a day to day basis. ● Meeting monthly key performance indicators relating to work experience/ training, job starts and sustainable job outcomes ● Designing and implementing a basic framework to adhere to all aspects of client intervention from induction and initial assessment to exiting the project and transfer to the next provider. ● Liaising with 3rd part organisations such as colleges, training providers, employers, welfare to work providers and local job centres.I left Groundwork in October 2011 to travel and take a break from my career in the 'welfare to work'.
