After AMS (now Vertafore) acquired the software company I started (FinancePro), I led their premium finance software business unit and successfully transitioned the FinancePro organization into AMS while exceeding all of our financial goals.

I started FinancePro in order to dramatically improve the efficiency of running an insurance premium finance company. We created the first web-based/SaaS software solution for the insurance premium finance industry and the retail agents that interacted with them. I designed and developed the initial product. Premium finance companies were able to double their financing volume without hiring employees by switching to our easy to use, web-based software. The company was bootstrapped, debt-free, and profitable and the product is still considered to be the #1 product in the premium finance industry. We also created PrevailNetwork.com -- a web-based marketplace for premium financing. FinancePro, Inc. was acquired by Vertafore/AMS Services in 2006.

Led the technology team to design and develop a Java-based system to enable live one-on-one tutoring over the Internet. System included schedule management, whiteboard, voice, and other tools to facilitate tutoring. Service was sold to the Boston Public Library and other libraries to tutor disadvantaged kids over the Internet. Met with potential investors and partners, demo'ed technology, etc. We were acquired by Tutor.com.

Managed a fast-paced engineering group that developed Java-based tools and systems to automate the publishing of large commercial websites, including ESPN.com, ABCNews.com, NFL.com, Superbowl.com, and NBA.com. 80% of ESPN.com was automatically generated using my group's systems. I left after Starwave was acquired by Disney.

Technical lead and architect of a highly rated Windows-based consumer software product called Echo Lake. Led the team from initial design to product launch in less than 2 years. Walter Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal said this about Echo Lake: "I think it’s one of the most exciting and creative pieces of software I’ve seen in a long time” Designed the overall architecture using C++ and MFC using object-oriented techniques. I left after the product was acquired by Creative Wonders and the flexible architecture allowed them to create many product offshoots.

Group Manager for Paul Allen’s Asymetrix company’s most successful Windows products. Products included ToolBook, Multimedia ToolBook, and MediaBlitz. Managed five different project teams consisting of thirty people (developers, program managers, testers, and usability). Responsible for technical management, product direction and design, evaluations of technology acquisitions, budgeting, recruiting, and performance reviews. Managed growth of group from 7 to 30 employees.Also, during my time at Asymetrix, I was chosen as one of two developers to work directly for Paul Allen on his special projects team.

Led the development of a multimedia authoring system for Windows for developing education titles. Object-oriented design and developed in C++.

Developed the company's first Windows products to automate document publishing and to assist in decision support for the U.S. Air Force and demonstrated them at the Pentagon. Products were used by Air Force Generals for decision support.
