http://www.eli-beams.eu/Senior Researcher in ELI, part of a European plan to build a new generation of large research facilities with main goal to create the latest laser equipment in the world. I am involved in the research, development, prototyping and implementation of high-energy and high repetition laser systems. Working in close cooperation with other researchers and commercial companies in order to develop technical specifications for the new laser technology needed for ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure). I am also responsible for independent scientific research, publishing as well as participating in conferences. Specifically:• I participate in the detailed design of cutting-edge parametric amplifiers, grating compressors and other systems needed in high energy lasers. This includes extensive simulations and modelling using Zemax.• I am responsible for drafting technical specifications for public tenders Capitalising on my previous experience, I am responsible for drafting the technical requirements. As a member of the evaluation committees, I am monitoring the progress of public tenders from a technical perspective.• With the laser team, I am heavily involved in the implementation of laser systems in the laboratory and I am expanding my hands-on experience.• Responsible for scientific writing for papers/conferences.• I provide technical assistance to procurement for necessary optics and optomechanics used for high energy pulses in vacuum further enhancing my expert knowledge of optics.• During my work in ELI I have acquired in-depth knowledge of high energy laser physics and technology and based on my laboratory experience from my PhD, I have expanded my insight on the inner workings and needs of a physics laboratory.

Project Engineer performing project development activities in the Division of International Activities. I was responsible for coordination activities for existing and under evaluation projects. I participated in complex negotiations with the EU and other key players in the natural gas sector. I was actively involved in development activities related to the realisation of large scale infrastructures with significant regional and national political and economic impact.• Considerable experience dealing with European Union grants. I was responsible for reporting, i.e. drafted numerous progress and close-up reports, attended meetings with EU officers and negotiated for extensions and terms of the grants. I participated in the drafting of a successful grant application to the EU for the Natural Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria through the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR) programme. I was responsible for proactively reviewing and commenting on upcoming EU Decisions that would affect the current and under consideration projects.• Experience with drafting negotiation documents, memoranda of understanding (MoU) and official letters needed for development activities. Responsible for drafting SWOT analyses (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), supporting new international collaborations in the energy sector. Review of negotiation documents and MoUs, both with large commercial firms as well as with international counterparts in the natural gas sector.• Good knowledge of the European Energy market (Oil and Gas) as well as participation in workshops, Summer Schools.

IT&T Project engineer in the International Business Department. I participated in the drafting of technical offers and quotes for customers from the public sector.• Drafting of tenders issued by European institutions and by the EU. All the tenders I participated in (more than 30 in four months) were in English and imparted with inside knowledge of the tendering procedure from a bidders perspective.

Optical Networks Instructor. I delivered theoretical and practical training internationally on Next Generation Wavelength Division Multiplexing (NG WDM) and Next Generation Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (NG SDH) to leading experts of the field (indicatively, Vodafone, BT, KPN, etc.)• In depth knowledge of optical networks covering all aspects and sizes of the subject, ranging from designing subsea networks to a small local optical network, from commissioning these networks to managing them through proprietary software. I was responsible for the Optical Network Laboratory in Huawei training center. I performed numerous on-field and hands on technical trainings on optical networks, both for SDH and WDM. Had to deliver training on live networks internationally. The trainings covered all aspects of networks, ranging from Design, Installation, Commissioning, Testing, Operations and Maintenance, as well as Monitoring and Managing the optical network.• Development of excellent communication and tutoring skills. I was responsible for transferring advanced technical knowledge to a varied audience (ranging from upper managerial staff to field technicians) in more than 8 countries.  Received Award of Excellent Performance (based on overall feedback from my trainees).• I have delivered trainings in the above subjects under both laboratory and field conditions.
