I was part of the Search team at Yelp. * I created a new, optimized geo-sharding scheme for Yelp’s Elasticsearch indexes by analyzing historical query and business density patterns using Spark.* I also Created a framework to dark launch new ElasticSearch clusters with different geo-sharding schemes and analyze their performance. This made future rollouts and benchmarking of new ES clusters significantly easier.

I was a Course Assistant for CS 173 - Discrete Structures. I helped run weekly discussion sections, answering student questions and handling logistics. I also held weekly office hours and was quite active at answering questions on Piazza.

I started out doing backend web development in Django. I transitioned into a DevOps role around Fall 2016.* Overhauled the deployment process for a major project, helped decouple front-end and back-end deployments, enabled separate versioning of front-end from back-end. Tools and technologies used - TravisCI, Heroku Buildpacks, Amazon S3, Bash Scripting. * Created a RESTful API and documentations, assisted with swap to new API, greatly reduced response times. Tools and technologies used - Swagger, Django. * Normalized various Postgres tables to reduce column size and avoid TOASTing, increasing query performance. Tools and technologies used - PostgresSQL.* Created monitoring dashboards using InfluxDB and Grafana.

I was responsible for creating a co-op, puzzle solving VR game using Unity (C#). The two players playing the game would be native speakers of different languages and would have to communicate to solve the puzzle.
