I am passionate about education and have spent the past 20 years providing the best possible learning experience for the young people in my care. I now share that experience and support others in the co-design of great learning through Unstuck Learning Design. I work with Schools, Education Departments, Universities, National Education Departments and industry to put learning and learners at the heart of what we do. As a Leading Teacher at John Monash Science school with a remit of personalising learning and Director of Emerging Sciences Victoria, a virtual science school for regional and remote students, I was privileged to work on the edges of innovative educational practice alongside a wonderful team of teachers. I have proven myself beyond the classroom, bringing real school improvement in the fields of online learning, deep pedagogy, design thinking and the application of Google Workspace to enhance learning.My creativity, thinking and innovation in education have been recognised when I received the United Kingdom National Teaching Award for Outstanding New Teacher in 2004. I was a judge for the British Council’s International School Award, a consultant on the British Languages National Strategy group, have featured in three Teacher’s TV programmes and had the honour of being a learning expert for the London Olympic Games Organising Committee. Being a part of such disparate teams has been equally enlightening and humbling.I was delighted to be part of the 2013 Sydney Google Certified Teacher’s cohort and I was then asked to Mentor on the 2014 Google Teacher Academy in Sydney. I was recently honoured to be selected as a member of the Google Apps for Education International Advisory Board. Being a part of this wider educational network has afforded me the chance to work with some remarkable people and truly enriched and deepened my own understanding of learning and teaching.
