I am a PhD-level protein scientist with experience in purification, biochemical characterization, and structural determination by single-particle cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography. My graduate- and postdoctoral-level research projects have encompassed systems involved in ion conduction, photosensation, aerobic respiration, secondary-messenger signal transduction, and hormone metabolism of plant, bacterial, and mammalian origin. I have experience with sample preparation in vitreous ice for single-particle cryo-EM as well as data collection and processing. As a crystallographer, I have background in vapor-diffusion and lipidic-cubic-phase crystallization (with and without robotic liquid-handling systems). In pursuit of structural solutions, I have worked extensively on the chromatographic purification and characterization of recombinantly expressed proteins. I have worked with soluble and membrane-bound proteins at all levels of structural biophysics from construct design and orthologue screening to intricate structural characterization.My strengths include design, implementation, evaluation, and troubleshooting of expression and purification protocols; meticulous and detail-oriented structural refinement; protein structural-functional analysis from multiple structures; and scientific writing that emphasizes the logical connections from current work to past and future experiments.
