I am a subsystem lead for the HPVDT watercraft project. Over the next year, the team will be working on breaking the speed record for a human-powered watercraft.My job is leading a sub-team to create the full drivetrain integration for the watercraft project. I am a core part of the R&D team for the project, and my research involves estimating and optimizing energy efficiency for a drivetrain depending on different types of propulsion methods. Beyond my research responsibilities, I am also in charge of delegating work and ensuring consistent output from the team.

HPVDT is a world record-holding design team that works on human-powered speed vehicles. The team is working on a human-powered aircraft attempting to fly a full marathon in under an hour. I was given the responsibility of managing raw material planning for structural components such as wing spars and the propeller shaft. I was responsible for ensuring efficient usage of materials along with designing plans for manufacturability. I have also worked on various manufacturing tasks in the team, including layups with light composites, quality assurance, CNC tool paths, and cutting foam with a 4-axis wire cutter.
