Hasan Karaca Email and Phone Number
I completed my PhD at Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) under the supervision of Prof. Dionyz Pogany. During my PhD studies, I collaborated with Nexperia Hamburg in Germany and worked on the development of Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs) for ESD protection. My work was to simulate devices with Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD and measure/characterize test structures with TIM (Transient Interferometric Mapping), TLP (Transmission Line Pulser), EMMI (Emission Microscopy) and ESD/Surge-like sinusoidal pulses to contribute the design of ESD protection devices and circuits to meet design requirements, and to drive ESD/LUP related debug activities. With one of the papers I wrote, I received the best student paper award in 41st Annual EOS/ESD Symposium (Riverside, CA, USA). At the end of my PhD, I successful transferred my knowledge and experience to my successors by giving them trainings about the setups in the lab and the simulation tools (Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD, ADS and MATLAB) in addition to preparing detailed documentations for them.During my master's degree studies at Bilkent University under the supervision of Prof. Abdullah Atalar, I designed a CMUT (Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer) and Colpitts oscillator based pressure sensor by using Cadence and MATLAB. In parallel to studying my master’s degree, for a while, I also worked at Nanotam (Bilkent University) on the modeling and simulation of GaN HEMT transistors with Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD and IC-CAP. Besides, I worked as a teaching assistant (TA) for the course of “EEE 202 Circuit Theory” during my master’s degree studies and this involved participating in labs, proctoring exams, and reading assignments, quizzes and lab reports.I have a strong background in device physics and semiconductor technology in addition to having knowledge about Si, SiC and GaN processes. Although it is not listed in the transcript, I took courses related to reliability and learned about reliability methods and failure analysis.
