I’m an independent filmmaker and director from Turkey. I studied Sociology, then Ancient Greek Language and Literature at Istanbul University. However I worked as a journalist for many years and made documentaries for TV channels. In 2017, I set off to cycle through all African countries and started shooting a 54 episode documentary series called “Journey to Dreams” about the dreams of African people. In 2019, I made my first feature film, TENERE, which tells the story of African migrants trying to cross the Sahara Desert. Tenere made its world premiere at The Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, and its European premiere at the Manchester Film Festival, where it won the “Best Cinematography” award. Tenere met with the audience at many international film festivals, cinemas, television and digital platforms.
