As a key member of the Order team, I contributed to significant improvements in order management systems. Starting with three order states in the Pinta project, I expanded this to 17 states within six months. I decoupled customer negotiation orders from the legacy system, implementing a modern design. We also transitioned from a shared Redis instance, freeing up over 35 GB of space. The legacy order system was refactored to operate asynchronously in the new order flow, and all business logic for item refunds was integrated seamlessly.We achieved 99% decoupling from the legacy system, with full removal planned soon—accomplished with minimal sales impact. Throughout the refactoring, we heavily relied on testing, writing 30 BDD tests and 90 integration tests. Resiliency mechanisms were implemented to enhance error handling, while Kafka topics were consumed at a rate of over 200K processes per second. Finally, the Order system now orchestrates all orders across services.
