Jamaal Hasef Tolbert is a visual artist and educator with a passion for connecting people and cultures through art. He holds an MFA in Video Art & Sculpture from Claremont Graduate University and a Certificate in Art & Its Markets from Sotheby's Institute of Art. As an Adjunct Professor at Los Angeles Community College District, he instructs courses in painting, drawing, graphic design, art appreciation, and art history, developing and implementing curriculum to enhance technical skills and introduce advanced concepts. He listens attentively and respectfully to the diverse perspectives and identities of his students, especially those who are often underrepresented.As an Art Director at WACO Theater Center, he creates and executes strategies for the annual Wearable Art Gala, managing art installations, sales, and payments, and coordinating gallery logistics and attendants. He also works with the founder and his team to identify and select award nominees, and to facilitate design and implementation of the program. He has successfully reached the Gala's fundraising goal of $1 million from the silent and live art auctions.Jamaal has also curated events and art exhibitions at various Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen locations, collaborating with local brands, influencers, and visual artists. He has participated in numerous collaborations, fellowships, and commissioned art projects, including captivating murals adorning the streets of Los Angeles. He has worked alongside industry icons, such as serving as an Executive/Production Assistant for Kanye West's Sunday Service.Jamaal's immersion in the creative industries has cultivated a vast network of professionals and artists.
