I am a university graduate who has taken an interdisciplinary approach to education and has also spread past work experience to acquire skills in as many different professions as possible to become a well-rounded candidate. Jobs I have held include working at fast food in both sales and production of orders, teaching students at an advanced learning center for children, and helping both customers and contractors alike at an amusement park. Each job has left me more skilled and experienced than before and has helped me accomplish company objectives at my next job as what I have learned begins to apply to novel situations where my set of skills help me excel for the organization.My time in university has been split between experiences taught in class and out of class, with lots of data collection, analysis and interpretation coming from courses within my program but more practical skills involving organizing and directing teams to accomplish goals set by ourselves coming from my time volunteering at clubs and positions in the community. In my program, I focused on the biological sciences broadly so my knowledge base would span neurology, genetics, ecology and even paleontology from the courses and research I completed. Specifically in research, I joined the project of 2 Master's students where we investigated the wear on dinosaur teeth to extrapolate the creatures' chewing strategies and diets, and headed my own pilot project on the expression of a phenotypic characteristic in zebrafish larvae based on the conditions of the environment they were raised in. However, I made sure to dig beyond biology when studying by doing a minor in Economics where I became familiar with theories and analyses contemporarily used to explain economic trends in small and large scopes, and later shifted to this minor to one of Business where I was given the opportunity to learn Business Law, Finance and Accounting at introductory levels. This wide berth has given me perspective on how to holistically approach whatever I am currently working on from multiple angles.My time volunteering has provided more practical skills as I planned and held events for a charity-affiliated club as their Vice President of Events, directed my own team and worked within a larger team as the Team Leader of the Bike Library within the Sustain SU initiative at the University of Alberta, and got to interact with patients and medical staff alike by volunteering at the university hospital through their gift shop, art gallery, and the neurology unit.
