About Hasith Karunasekera

With over five years of experience in computer vision research and engineering, I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Chalmers University of Technology, where I work on developing novel methods and algorithms for road surface condition and friction coefficient estimation using deep neural networks and deep sensor fusion.My mission is to contribute to the advancement of computer vision and its applications in various domains, such as autonomous driving, robotics and surveillance. My field of expertise includes convolutional neural networks, stereo vision, obstacle detection, saliency, and optimization. I have published several papers in prestigious journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and IEEE Access, and obtained multiple certifications in deep learning from Coursera. I also have a strong background in engineering and business administration, having worked as a telecomunication strategy and transformation engineer and completed an MBA degree. I have experience work with multi-cultural and inter-departmental teams while overseeing the project progression, conducting technical and financial evaluations.
