Worked with a team of 3 developers at Claimatic, a SaaS company that created B2B software utilizing custom algorithms for the automatic assignment of insurance claims and provided a GUI used by lead adjusters in the management of each claim's lifespan.Personally introduced new work-flow tools to the company, such as Trello, GitHub, and Slack to dramatically improve productivity and decrease deployment time.Through this position I have became experienced and accomplished in SQL-based reporting: creating, generating, and auto-emailing custom reports used for billing and analytics.Helped to maintain, update, and migrate legacy PHP code to the Symfony2 framework.Technologies/Languages used: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, DataTables.js, PHP, Symfony, Twig, MySQL

Collaborated as a member of an extremely talented five person team of developers to maintain and improve the code for an online ticket-brokering marketplace and to refactor and convert its legacy PHP system to Laravel.Personally developed two new versions of the login flow that utilized Facebook’s JavaScript SDK for a more streamlined login UX, the second of which resulted in a reduction of over 50% of code. I also single-handedly created an external app that integrated with Amazon’s Mechanical Turk system to clean our database.Also worked closely with our designer and marketing team to implement new layouts and features, including Facebook and Twitter sharing and the mobile-optimized version of the site.Over the last few months I assisted one of our senior developers in creating our internal RESTful API, written in Python, for the purpose of auto-processing ticket purchases and for use by our IOS app.Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, AJAX, PHP, Laravel, Python, PeeWee, MySQL

Tyle Ninja is a tile-sliding puzzle game web app, that my partner and I built from scratch using Laravel, Javascript, MySQL, and the Materialize CSS framework. It can be viewed at www.tyle.ninja.* Adlister: a PHP & MySQL Craigslist clone created in a single week with one partner. We chose to use the Zurb Foundation CSS framework to style the site. Working together through Github version control, we were able to accomplish 95% functionality and appearance within the 7 day time limit. My main contributions were the majority of the back-end code and database architecture. Features user-creation/login, ad post creation and viewing, image upload, search functionality, and ability for authors to edit their accounts and posts. This project incorporates PHP, MySQL, custom-written Models, and the Zurb Foundation CSS framework.* Personal Blog: a solo two-week project to showcase my online resume and portfolio of projects. It was built from scratch in Laravel, uses MySQL, and the Zurb Foundation CSS framework for styling.Minor Projects:* JavaScript Calculator: a digital calculator written in vanilla Javascript and styled using custom CSS.* Simon Says Game: a digital replica of the old childhood favorite light-sequence memory game. It was written in vanilla Javascript with custom CSS.* Whack-A-Worm: a game based on the classic whack-a-mole game. The application features the ability to keep score and count missed clicks to determine when a player loses. This application was built using PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery.

(*still in development*)MileMatrix is a web app that streamlines converting credit card reward programs into free travel. Whether or not someone is already familiar with reward programs or is simply overwhelmed by the abundance of options, requirements, and minutia; MileMatrix removes the need for endlessly researching credit cards. It decides the optimal credit card programs for their desired trip and suggests a combination of cards for which the user should apply. Included with the recommendations are simple instructions on how much they would need to spend on each card in a required time period, and when they could expect to accumulate enough points to book their trip.My role as a developer on this project was to utilize MySQL and Laravel to architect the database and models, as well as linking/querying the back-end to an external API for the mileage and rewards data.

FlightFishing revolutionizes the airfare-alert concept by allowing its users more customization options and providing on-going automated alerts, without spamming. Unlike current popular deal-alert sites, FlightFishing's users can create specific or broad alerts for desired destinations/regions 'from' and 'to' as many airports as they wish. FlightFishing constantly scours the internet for incredibly low and mistaken fairs, and then emails/texts the user instantaneously. A user is only alerted to destinations they've indicated, and only when our algorithm determines a fair's per/mile price to be substantially lower than usual. This means no spam! Our goal is to enable people to realize their travel dreams. We believe airfare costs should not inhibit anyone from fulfilling their wander lust.

I taught secondary-level mathematics to high school students of varying skill-levels from various backgrounds at a Title 1 school. Over the course of my career, I taught all high school math subjects, with a focus on upper-level courses, such as Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB. And was selected as the Mathematics Department Chair 2010-2013. I am trained in implementing numerous teaching strategies to engage all learning styles, including ESE and ESOL. And I am experienced in the International Baccalaureate program, Advanced Placement, and Springboard curriculum by the College Board.
