My overarching objective was to increase the quality of our product and that end, I championed the “Quality is a shared responsibility” paradigm change. Thus countering the industry standard which suggests that testers/QAs are ultimately responsible for the quality. This is not an easy task, and I spent most of my time acting as a change agent, drawing on all my people skills as well as leveraging my professional competences in bringing about the cultural shift we wanted. I was the Test Lead of the CFD & Listed Products department, where I also acted as a liaison between the IT Department and the Business in my capacity as IT Analyst. My goal was to ensure the highest level of quality possible in the software our department develops. My areas of responsibility were to organize test in the CFD & Listed Program, test and troubleshoot the software deliverables for the CFD & Listed Desk, while also acting as a liaison between the IT department and the business (clarifying requirements and specifying test cases and scenarios originating from the same requirements). A prerequisite to doing so was to continuously increase my knowledge of investment banking and especially equities and derivatives trading. Just before i left, my team consisted of 3 testers in Denmark and an offshore test team in India (+6 testers). I would always spar with and support my team, in an effort to make them be the best possible context-driven testers, which in turn required me to teach them what is necessary to increase test coverage of a given task. In November 2009, I started working for Saxo Bank (an investment bank), working as a manual tester on a major project. Saxo Banks approach to developing and testing software is strictly agile/scrum, and that has allowed me to excel in the methodology. On top of that, working for a company where the level of complexity of the investment banking domain is soaring, the requirements to a tester are just as towering. Being an external consultant, it was imperative that I quickly could comprehend the intricate tasks at hand, incorporate the scrum methodology and deliver tangible results, all of which I did. Simultaneously with my work as a tester, I also partook in a workgroup that was formed to reorganize and restructure the test approach, strategy, vision and quality goals for the entire IT organization.

While I was enrolled at the IT-University in Copenhagen, I worked as a part-time tester at MobilePeople. My job was to execute, plan and manage tests on mobile devices. I conducted both functional and stress tests, wrote test scripts, identified and debugged the bugs side by side with the developers. My most important task was to test the Map and Location-Based applications MobilePeople developed, both at the office and in the field.The tools we used at MobilePeople were QaTraq and Bugzilla.

In 2009, two fellow students and myself handed in our masters thesis. Our goal was to examine what an ideal knowledge sharing and cooperation enhancing tool would look like. To set us off we used a “wiki” as an example of such a tool, but we knew we would have to challenge the functionality and foundation of the current wiki software if we could. Because this area is in constant development and a solution is impossible to isolate, we chose to approach our master thesis as a “wicked problem”. The definition of a wicked problem is, “… it’s exceedingly complex and often made even more difficult to solve due to the people involved who have difficulties communicating and working together.” If one is to embrace the wicked problems approach, a visualization of the many perspectives is required. The visualization process helps us acknowledge the complexity of the problem, as well as take into account the technological advancements. At the same time the method and approach chosen contributes to the intricacy of our masters thesis because it incites new realizations regularly.There were several partners involved in our work. Some of them were mobilePeople, Siemens, BankData, Dansk Statistik and innofactor. Our tutors were Leif Bloch Rasmussen from the Center for Applied ICT at the Copenhagen Business School and Ulrik Falktoft, who is affiliated with the Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship.Specialities:Wikis, knowledge sharing and Wicked Problems: I spent seven months gathering and producing data on Wikis and knowledge sharing. At the same time, I realized how difficult Wicked Problems actually are. In an attempt to re-solve the Wicked Problems, I implemented various tools and methods that require visual language to do so.
