As a Research Data Analyst at the independent and intercultural media outlet Agenda Propia (https://agendapropia.co), I oversee the cleaning, organization, and structuring of databases. Additionally, I specialize in creating statistical models and extracting relevant information for in-depth analysis. I also conduct rigorous data curation, ensuring the quality and accuracy of both acquired and generated data sets. My role extends to generating graphs and visualizations to bolster the journalistic team's efforts. Furthermore, I actively participate in editorial committees and maintain close collaboration with legal and investigative teams.

Main coordinator of the project "Making visible violence due to sexual orientation and gender identity in Central America”. This project is partnering with five Central American-based lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans -led community-based organizations (CBOs) to strengthen standardized data collection on LGBTQ+ discrimination and hate crimes in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras , and Guatemala. The CBOs will use the data to raise awareness of the situation of LGBTQ+ people and inform future public policies supporting the human rights of the LGBTQ+ population. The CBOs will co-design the data collection methodology with ILDA. This process will include: 1) collection of baseline data relating to LGBTQ+ discrimination and hate crimes. 2) development of draft methodology for data collection on LGBTQ+ discrimination across the CBOs, 3) validation of the methodology and data standardization.

In charge of developing a diagnosis on the quality and integrity of statistics on the violent gender-related deaths of women in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama and Paraguay. Leader of a multidisciplinary team of journalists, engineers, web developers and interactive designers in the production of multimedia reports on corruption, drug trafficking, politics, economy and health, among others. Notable projects:• The hidden costs of gasoline in Costa Rica: The investigation, based on the creation of a database, brought to light the existence of a mathematical maneuver to hide a subsidy in the price formula of fuels, in order to cheapen gas and asphalt and to increase the price of diesel and gasoline, the most used ones in Costa Rica. The Public Services Regulatory Body created the subsidy in November 2008, in benefit of businesses and damage of consumers.• Stolen Memory: is a multimedia, data investigation about the cultural heritage trafficking in Latin America. It was the first transnational project that used databases to picture and reveal this organized crime. In Costa Rica, we revealed how a network of local art dealers sold precious historical pieces in exchange of thousands of dollars.• Narco-seizures: is an investigation that reveals which is the final destination of the drug shipments that pass through Costa Rica and leave to other places by sea, land or air. In addition, it describes the mechanisms used by drug dealers to smuggle the drug and the effects this illicit business has for different sectors in the country and Costa Rica’s international image.
