Swara Deling 2015 ini direncanakan dan diadakan berdasar semangat untuk melihat dengan lebih dekat tentang bambu yang sebenarnya pernah sangat dekat dengan kehidupan budaya kita. Pengetahuan dan juga ketrampilan mengolah bambu ada pada budaya – budaya tradisi di sebagian besar etnik Nusantara. Hampir setiap budaya etnik dan sub–etnik memiliki ‘cultural DNA’ yang berkait dengan bambu. Hanya saja memori tentang ini berangsur memudar dan beberapa nyaris punah karena kita abai terhadap ini. Mungkin belum terlalu terlambat untuk memulai mengingat dan menganyam lagi pengetahuan tentang bambu ini. Melihat bambu sebagai bahan material alat musik bambu atau yang lain perlu dilihat secara menyatu dengan potensi ketrampilan/ skill set yang dimiliki oleh komunitas atau seniman. Ini yang masih merupakan keunikan yang masih kita miliki. Bambu harus dilihat sebagai satu kesatuan budaya untuk dikembangkan. Jika tidak maka kita hanyalah akan menjadi negara penyedia atau pengexpor bahan baku saja. Tentu hal ini tidaklah kita kehendaki lagi. Swara Deling 2015 ini digagas dan diangankan sebagai suatu skenario/ strategi untuk menegakkan dan memperkuat budaya bambu Nusantara. Suatu perpaduan antara pengenalan, pemahaman dan juga peningkatan ketrampilan namun juga kreativitas dan inovasi yang bermartabat. Sebuah proses untuk memasukkan ‘intellectual property’ pada sebuah karya. Gagasan yang terbaik perlu dipadukan dengan ketrampilan seniman yang terbaik juga. Swara Deling 2015 mengundang seniman dan Pokdarwis untuk ikut terlibat dalam sebuah proses ‘melahirkan kembali’ budaya musik bambu. Sebuah kerja besar yang membutuhkan kebersamaan dan juga kecintaan besar pada pembangunan dan perkuatan budaya.

Rempah Rumahkarya is made 90% out of recycled material. The organic building masses are created from arrangements of recycled CNP steel as their structure without changing various steel lengths. The steel channels stretch from 1,7m to 2m, creating a nice organic and iconic loop shape. The roof is supported with wire mesh and bamboo, covered with cement paper, painted with asphalt liquid as waterproof coating before another layer of fibers and vines were added on.For the outer wall, Rempah Rumahkarya made use of iron frames, then covered them with glass or waste wood with various shapes and sizes. The columns inside the facility are made from knockdown concrete that are made separately. For the mezzanine railing, the designer decided to made use of iron plates extracted from mill waste. These iron plates use polystyrene, arranged with wire mesh, which are filled with mortar for construction. As for floor finishing, Mintarga tried to explore with new materials such as resin coated, woven bamboo slats.Rempah Rumahkarya is designed with lots of big operable windows to enable using sunlight as the main lighting source. As of for artificial lighting, Rempah Rumahkarya uses energy-efficient LED lamps. To create shading effects beneath the big “umbrella,” pots of planting were put between the wire mesh holes. Timed sprinklers are used as the watering system. The same method is also implemented on the vertical greenery on the wall.Alongside the educative discussions, open houses are often held in Rempah Rumahkarya to introduce the down-to-earth and fun green movements to elementary school students. With this, Rempah Rumahkarya is expected to be the new art idiom without losing regional identity and culture.

Sekolah Kita is a non-formal school for children who are eviction victims in Rumpin, West Java.The people of Kampung Cibitung (Cibitung Village), Bogor, West Java, are threatened by the loss of their livelihoods as farmers. Since 2007, their fate has become questionable as their one and only land is still claimed by the Indonesian Air Force. However, the people of Kampung Cibitung are aware the lack of knowledge on legal matters, their skill in public speaking, and even the lack of confidence in speaking in front of many people during public hearings with the government. Sekolah Kita (Our School) was then introduced in 2012 as an alternative non-formal school that aims to empower the children of Cibitung to be able to advocate themselves in the future by strengthening children's confidence, empathy, curiosity and creativity.www.sekolahkitarumpin.org

Bamboo Biennale 2014 is planned and organized based on the underlying passion to closely embrace bamboo, which has ever been really close to Indonesia’s cultural life. The knowledge and skill to process bamboo have actually been rooted in most of Indonesia’s ethnic cultures. Almost each of the ethnic and sub-ethnic cultures holds ‘cultural DNA’ related to bamboo processing. However, such a traditional knowledge is gradually fading away, and even in the verge of extinction, because we, as Indonesians, are simply too ignorant. Even so, now might not be too late to begin remembering and weaving again our knowledge on bamboo. The way bamboo is viewed as a construction material should take into account the skill set possessed by the community or artisans. This is one of our unique roots. Bamboo should be seen as a whole cultural piece that needs to be developed: If not, we would merely be a supplier or exporter of raw material. This condition is absolutely not a part of our expectations.Bamboo Biennale 2014 is conceived and projected as a scenario or strategy to uphold and strengthen Indonesia’s bamboo culture. This event will not only be a blend of introduction, understanding, and skill upgrade, but also creativity and innovation that employ dignity. The event will also be a process to claim the ‘intellectual property’ within the products made from bamboo. The best idea needs to be combined with the best craftsmanship and artisan skills as well. Bamboo Biennale 2014 encourages architects/designers/artists to take part in a process of ‘regeneration’ of bamboo culture. This is a big job that requires togetherness and great passion for cultural development and reinforcement.
