Developed Product Safety Management Procedure for appliances, and champion the execution of the Procedure, covered both proactive and reactive product safety management activities.

Champion of all aspects of Product Safety matters. Developed the Product Safety Procedure covering both safety issue escalation and safety standards compliance, based on Corporate’s Product Safety guideline. Chaired a cross-functional team of 30+ senior professionals for implementing the Product Safety Procedure, and reported out to senior management. Received multiple awards as recognition.• Accomplished SIL Type Approval for Aero-GT’s products for the first time, allowed a saving of $200k /project. The ground work included providing functional safety input to Control /Automation team. The Type Approval effort involved an audit by Exida on all product safety documentation, as well as collaborations with suppliers on developing their respective safety doc. • Led the investigation and escalation of Product Safety issues in field, including implementing short term mitigation, long term Corrective & Preventive Actions, and customer communications. Demonstrated the success in the reduction of Unsafe Event Count year over year. • Developed the risk assessment methodology, combining physics-based and empiric-based approaches, demonstrated effective in reaching consensus among stake holders often with conflicting interests. The risk assessment also served as the basis for litigation support as needed.• Pioneered and provided expertise in supporting international projects for meeting customers unique safety requirements, such as Australia AS3814, Russia GOST ISO-21789. Interfaced with foreign government officials or regulators, and successfully received needed official permit. Received a Compliance Excellence award at Corporate level as recognition.• CFSE Certified for IEC 61511 since 2013, and AFSP certified for ISO 26262 in 2017. These are the highest credential for Functional Safety, and are critical for satisfying the personnel competency requirement (per IEC 61508), and are helpful to ensure the compliance is achieved in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.

Responsible for the improvement of fleet RAM (reliability / availability / maintainability) for Aero-GT products. • Initiated and established a Component Test Lab. Managed the allocated funding of ~$4MM on budget and on schedule. Led the design and fabrication of a hydraulic test rig for testing critical components like pumps, valves, seals, etc. The lab enabled the validation of new designs before reaching production, and helped to verify the best cost-effective option for issue resolution.• Initiated & developed research projects with Clarkson University & University of Houston for reliability study, such as cooling system corrosion analysis against cooling water quality & additives, and butterfly valve reliability improvement.

Led a global IT team for the development of web-based apps to support the digital transformation of business workflow for the Product Services division of GE heavy duty gas turbines. Established software engineering practice for C & Java software development, e.g., code review & requirement management (DOORS).

Program Manager for DFSS Methods (Design for Six-Sigma). - Developed software tools for engineering design, e.g., the BCool tool integrated cooling & aerodynamic analyses for turbine blade design. - Developed the Numerical Optimization module for GE 6-Sigma curriculum, including techniques such as Monte-Carlo Simulations, Robust Design, Genetic Algorithms, etc. Taught the module in GE Power’s Edison Engineering Program for 15 years, and was voted for the Best Instructor (out of 25 experts) in 2007.

Senior Software Analyst for telecommunication software for embedded system. Accomplished an automated software test tool using Tk/Tcl/Expect. The test tool saved the Division's major project for meeting the business goals (schedule & funding). Received a technical achievement award and promotion as a result.

Research Engineer.Developed engineering design software tool iSIGHT with Engineous (a startup company), using LISP, Tk/Tcl, and Unix scripts. Accomplished successes with various GE businesses, e.g., - Turbine flowpath optimization for GE Aviation; - Steam turbine airfoil optimization for GE Power Systems; - Power distribution simulation integration & optimization for GE Energy; - Halogen IR lamp filament coating optimization for GE Lightings; - Soft drink plastic bottle shape optimization for GE Plastics; - Automated ECM (Electro-Chemical Machinery) Tooling Design for GE Global Research Center. - Delivered MSAT design tool to NASA-Lewis Center and received Outstanding Technical Achievements awards 2 times in 1998.
