Joined in January 2019 as part of the acquisition of Clara.Was working on the Time-To-Fund (TTF) team whose main goal was to improve the speed with which loan applications (student loan refinances and personal loans) progressed from submission to funding. Over the year and a half I was there, my team implemented full automation (i.e. No Touch loans, where no human is required for the origination process) for a substantial percentage of SoFi's loan flow. This involved a creating a number of new workflows, several third party integrations, and the automatic extraction of information from uploaded documents. Other projects tackled were gradual refactoring of the microservice architecture to improve service boundaries, the (partial) conversion of the front end from Twirl and JQuery to React and spinning up several new services in Kotlin.Stack was primarily Java (SpringBoot, Play, some DropWizard) but was in the process of being converted to Kotlin, Javascript (React / Twirl / JQuery), Databases were MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Clara was a small-ish (70 person) mortgage start-up that sought to improve the efficiency, speed and transparency of the mortgage application process. I specifically worked on the internal loan origination and workflow management tool known as "Bonsai". Was full stack with a substantial lean towards backend code.In addition to the day to day of building out of increasingly complex features of the loan origination process, one of the major projects I was involved in was a major rearchitecture of the organization of the business logic defining tasks, which dramatically improved the comprehensibility, maintainability and ease of implementation. Stack was Scala (Finagle, Finatra), JavaScript (React), Thrift and PostgreSQLClara was acquired by SoFi in January 2018

Rex Animal Health was a company that I cofounded in 2014 in Houston, Texas. The original iteration was a veterinary services platform providing a number of clinic management tools as well as convenient animal health information aggregation and price transparency for consumers. In March of 2015 the company was accepted into the 2015 Sprint Accelerator (Techstars) in Kansas City, Missouri. While at the accelerator, the company pivoted to a model of aggregating, standardizing and providing easy to access information in the highly fragmented animal health space. This included the granular visualization of hundreds of thousands of disease events worldwide spanning dozens of species and diseases, a therapeutic decision support tool processing tens of thousands of clinical results for animals and allowing faster and more accurate treatment decisions to be made and an antibacterial resistance tracking tool, granular to farm level, with visualization of the advance of antibacterial resistance over time and by pathogen. The last project I worked on while at the company was a suite of tools for doing direct genomic analysis of animals including phenotype-genotype correlation and pathway prediction via statistical methods and metabolic pathway and geospatial phylogeny visualization.The company's primary customer segments was animal producers and the pharmaceutical industry. I was the primary developer on all of the products, which eventually involved managing a team of up to 3.
