Headhunted and assigned to Facebook to lead their new FVP (Facebook Video Productions) team. Created the standard operating procedures (SOP) for ‘Facebook Live’ using my experience in the TV industry as a template. It was used to guide and train internal teams (and external clients) for their live broadcasts. The same SOP was adapted for pre-recorded video. Helped internal and external teams write the content and develop storyboards for their live broadcasts and pre-recorded videos.Key Achievements• Developed an SOP for the new studio in Hong Kong, which was then used as a template for new studios in Tokyo and Seoul.• Adapted the SOP to incorporate video conferencing software, such as Blue Jeans Network and Zoom, which enabled teams to broadcast remotely from their own homes during COVID lockdown.• Video content creation from pre-production to post production

Assigned to their Asia Pacific HQ in Hong Kong to lead the studio floor team. The team were fresh journalism graduates with limited live studio experience. Introduced new procedures to improve communication between the team and New York during the live broadcast, improve the workflow and set expectations between the producers and the team and enrolled the team onto health and safety and first aid courses. They eventually took the knowledge they learned with them to their new roles internally and for other companies such as South China Morning Post, China Daily and CNN.Key Achievements• Producers were able to increase the number of studio guests per segment allowing for more diverse and competitive live discussions due to increased team competency and performance.• Procedures I created were adapted for new studios in Singapore and Sydney and existing studios in London and New York.• Asked by senior management to co-ordinate and stage manage the Bloomberg New Economic Forum 2018 in Singapore

Assigned to their global HQ in Qatar, I was originally hired as a Multiskilled Studio Operator (MSO) operating the autocue, graphics playout, robotic cameras and floor managing before being promoted to Camera & Lighting Operator then promoted further to Senior Camera & Lighting Operator. Prior to the launch of Al Jazeera America, I worked with their studio camera crew to update the standard operating procedures incorporating my experience and their observations. This led to a standardisation of all the studio SOPs in the network across all Al Jazeera’s channels (Arabic, English, America, Documentary, Sport and Children’s) enabling all crews to work on all the channels.Key Achievements• Part of the team that was awarded Royal Television Society’s News Channel of the Year 2012• Created a standard operating procedure that was adopted by studios in London, New York, Washington DC, Kuala Lumpur, and Doha• Creative input into ideas and concepts that became AJ+, Inside Syria, Focus on Gaza, and Inside Story.
